SSU congratulates Stefan Frei, named to MLS All-Star team

Seattle Sounders FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei was selected for the MLS All-Star game to play against Real Madrid this August 2nd in Chicago. This is Frei’s 1st All-Star selection. Frei made a name for himself in last year’s MLS championship game as he rejected shot after shot by Toronto in a performance that earned him MLS Cup MVP honors in 2016, and the Sounders the gold star.

Frei is he lone Sounders representative and will serve as backup to USMNT legend Tim Howard in that game; however, as is tradition, Frei will probably play the whole 2nd half.

This year, Frei has played 19 games with 54 saves, with 5 shutouts, and allowing just 24 goals against.
