Friday night saw the return of the Everett Silvertips hockey and last year’s US division champions celebrated their 17th season in style by hanging the banner from the rafters to the elation of the crowd. The Tips took on the visiting Tri-City Americans who the Tips owned last year with a 5-3 record in the regular season and a 4-1 series win the 1st round of the WHL playoffs.

The match saw the return of goalie Dustin Wolf who was selected by the Calgary Flames in the 7th round of the NHL draft last year. It also saw the return of Bryce Kindopp who was recently announced as the new captain of our hometown heroes. Assistant captains Wyatte Wylie and Max Patterson add veteran leadership with the trio having a combined 675 career WHL starts between them.

The game started off well with a goal just 5 minutes in by Jackson Berezowski. The winger from Saskatoon was assisted by Kindopp and Wylie as things seemed to be coming up aces. Unfortunately, 3 unanswered goals by the Americans—two by Nikita Krivokrasov—dug a hole much too large for the Tips to crawl out of as the Americans would take the game 4-2.
