Silvertips drop game 1 against Chiefs 6-3

Posted by

The Everett Silvertips dropped the puck at the Angel of the Winds Arena against the Spokane Chiefs but couldn’t find their defense as they lost 6-3. The loss puts the Tips at a 1-0 deficit in the best of 7 series in the 2nd round of the WHL playoffs.

The Tips actually out-shot the Chiefs 9-8 in the 1st period and tied the game 1-1 on a power play chip in by Zack Andrusiak . The Tips looked to be the better of the Chiefs as they kept up on goals thru the 2nd period where it was tied at 2-2. In fact, Everett out-shot Spokane 22-16 through those periods.

Something bad happened in the 3rd period however. Not something, rather everything went wrong as just 39 seconds into the 3rd period. At the 10:30 mark the flood gates opened and the Chiefs would hammer the Tips for 3 more goals. Despite the fact that the Tips out-shot Spokane 32-23, Spokane’s shots just seemed to sneak their way in.

Game 2 at Angel of the Winds will occur Sunday night at 4pm, where the #1 seed Everett looks to get their revenge.
