The Tips went down 1-0 in the 1st period with an Americans power play goal at the 10:51 mark. But the boys in green would respond with a Martin Fasko-Rudas power play goal in the 17th minute for the equalizer.
“I thought our guys did a good job of controlling their emotions, playing in check and a good job of staying right in the moment,” Head Coach Dennis Williams said.

The second period would see the majority of the fireworks as 3 goals by the Tips would pull them to a 4-1 lead. Jake Christensen would get yet another goal in this series with a sound barrier breaking goal at the 9 minute mark, and Gage Goncalves would get his 1st post season goal just minute just 20 seconds later. Robbie Holmes would score just before an all-out fight broke out.

Presumably angered by their own inability to hold the Tips offense in check (Tips had a 27-17 shot advantage in the 1st two periods) the Americans resorted to cheap shots that saw a brawl ensue. Four Americans were sent off with penalties for their rudeness.
The Tri-Cities would score a couple of goals in the 3rd to make a game of it; however, the Tips played keep away just enough to earn the 2nd win of the series putting them up 2-0 in the series. The series now goes to Tri-Cities on Wednesday March 30th for game 3.
