Another rough week is over for the Mariners. As expected, Jackie Z didn’t make any major deadline moves for his middle-of-the-pack franchise.  Not that the embattled GM has much to trade with. Oh well…

More inter-league baseball as the Ms take on the Rockies. The team from Colorado just traded their franchise player, so they are firmly in their permanent rebuilding mode.

At least Seattle is the better run franchise.

Nelson Cruz. If the slugger played on a contending team, he’d be in the MVP conversation.

Seattle Mariners vs Texas Rangers

Friday, August 7th vs Texas Rangers 7:10 PST
Mike Montgomery (LHP) 4-4 vs. Cole Hamels (LHP) 6-7

Saturday, August 8th vs Texas Rangers 1:10 PST
Hisashi Iwakuma (RHP) 2-2 vs. Martin Perez (LHP) 1-2

Sunday, August 9th vs Texas Rangers 1:10 PST
King Felix (RHP) 12-6 vs. Colby Lewis (RHP) 11-4

Cole Hamels makes his 2nd start as a Ranger to open the weekend series. Chuck Norris’ favorite team is hoping that the former Phillie can put Texas in wildcard contention.

The series will feature some interesting pitching matchups, and should be tightly contested. If the King is going to get to 20 wins this season, he can’t have many more starts like the one he had last week.
